Lachlan's 7th Birthday Party - Part 1 - The Invitations.

After a busy weekend celebrating Lachlan's 7th birthday, I have a chance to sit down and get the photo's organised so I can share them with you all. I am going to post in a couple of part's as I have so much to share!

We decided a few weeks ago that his party would be a lego themed party and the colour scheme would be red, green and yellow with a touch of black! I contacted Claire at Scissors Paper Rock about making the invitations for the party. She got started immediately and came up with a fabulous sample. They were exactly what I had in mind! In the meantime Claire spent some time in hospital and was going through a very sad time in her life, but with all of this going on she still managed to complete the invitations for Lachlan's party. I thank her so much for this :)

So here they are!

This is the front of the invitation .

The back of the invitation, with all the details.

The invitations set the scene for the party. Claire also designed the menu labels for the dessert table, more on these in a later post!

Please head over to Scissor Paper Rock if you are after invitations. Claire will be designing and making the invitations for my little girls first birthday in a couple of weeks!

A Monkey, Ice Age and Spongebob!

My weekend has been filled with baking and decorating cakes! First to be finished was a white chocolate mudcake with butter cream and fondant decorations. This cake was for a lady who has always wanted a monkey!! I am making her daughter's wedding cake in a couple of months, so she decided to order a special cake for her mum's birthday.

One of my nephew's was celebrating his 6th birthday this weekend and requested an Ice Age 3 themed cake. Normally I make all of the decorations for my cakes, but this one stumped me! I attempted to make the figurines but they were disastrous, so I ended up buying a set of Ice Age figurines (they were actually from the series from the McDonald's Happy Meals). The cake still turned out ok and Luca was happy with it, which is all that matters.

It was dark chocolate mudcake with dark chocolate ganache and fondant covering.

There were also matching vanilla sugar cookies, simple circles with a number 6 embossed on them.

The third cake for the weekend was for Keira who was turning 9 this weekend. She requested a Spongebob Squarepants cake.

This was also dark chocolate mudcake with dark chocolate ganache and fondant covering.

So it was a mixed bag of cakes this weekend. They were all a lot of fun to create.

The coming week is all about Lego, a bowling alley and star wars so be sure to drop by later in the week to see what I create.

Enjoy your week!

Some of this weeks baking!

I am very busy this week with cakes, cupcakes and cookies. The first order went off in the post on Tuesday. Cookies for Sienna's 6th Birthday Party. This is the first time I have posted any of my baking, and thankfully they arrived safely the next day.

These are vanilla sugar cookies with fondant icing. The colours were pink and pale yellow to match the theme of the party, which is a vintage circus theme. All the details of this fabulous party will feature over here early next week.

I had a phone call from a teacher's aide at the local school earlier in the week requesting some baby themed cupcakes to share with her kindergarten class, as the teacher is finishing up this week to start maternity leave.

We decided mini cupcakes were the perfect size for the kindy children, they are vanilla spongecake with buttercream and fondant baby bib's and onesie's.

Best wishes Jenny!

More cake creations will feature over the coming days.

Lexii and Selena Turn 18 - Part 2

Yesterday I completed part 2 of Lexii and Selena's 18th birthday order (Read about Part 1 here). They had agreed on a silver and black colour theme that incorporated "18", their names and style. The cupcakes were a mix of vanilla and chocolate sponge cake with white vanilla butter cream swirls. Here are the plain cupcakes before the decorations were added.

Lexii's were decorated with high heel shoes, 18's and her name.

Selena's had mini longhorn's, 18's and her name.

The girls were going out to dinner with family and friends and the cupcakes were displayed on a black cupcake stand.

It was lovely to be part of the girls special birthday. Happy Birthday Lexii and Selena :)

Lexii and Selena Turn 18 - Part 1

Lexii and Selena are friends who are celebrating their 18th birthdays in the same week. I have been asked to make cookies and cupcakes for them as part of their celebrations.

Today I finished off the cookies, the girls will be taking these to school tomorrow to share with their friends.

Lexii's mum has organised these treats for the girls and she tells me that Lexii is a girly girl and Selena is more of a country girl, who likes all things RM Williams! So Lexii has pretty dress cookies.

And Selena has longhorn cookies, which I had to hand cut from a template I drew, as I could only buy a mini longhorn cookie cutter.

The cookies are vanilla sugar cookies with fondant icing, they both have a little shimmer added with some lustre dust!

I will be making the cupcakes tomorrow for the birthday dinner, so drop back in then to see what I am creating.

Enchanted Tree Cake

Today I had the pleasure creating a birthday cake for Madison, who is turning 8 tomorrow. She is in Lachlan's class at school. She requested an Enchanted Tree cake and even had a book to give me with the instructions in it. This one is from Debbie Brown's "Enchanted Cakes for Children" book.

The cake is dark chocolate mud cake with milk chocolate ganache and chocolate fondant covering. A bit of a chocolate overload, which is my kind of cake!!

The little animals are made from modelling paste and I was able to make these a few days ago so they had time to set.

This cake was so much fun to make, can't wait until Madison sees it later on when they come to collect. I am not sure if they will actually want to cut it :)

Happy 8th Birthday Madison, thank you for allowing me to create such a wonderful cake.

Super Comments Award :)

Yesterday the lovely Leanne over at Mrs A in the Cove, passed on the Super Comments Award to me. If you haven't visited her blog, please do.

Why do you Blog?

I have only been blogging for a couple of months now, I was previously posting over at The Claytons Blog, and reading lots and lots of wonderful blogs. Most of what I write is based around the cakes that I enjoy creating. I have gained inspiration from many sources and am now dabbling in creating wonderful parties for my children, so am blogging this journey also.

What are three of your best memories?

The birth of our 3 beautiful children.

My eldest's first day at school.

Our wedding day, January 1998 and then our vow renewal, January 2008.

If you changed your name what would it be?

This is a tricky one, I have never really thought about changing my name! I will have to have a think and come back to this one sometime :)
Five things I couldn't live without?

My husband and children.

My kitchen.

Chocolate and chicken flavoured chips.

My laptop and the internet.

My camera.

Four best books?

I am not a big novel reader, so this one is a little difficult to answer. I am always refering to my recipe books, so it would have to be AWW Cook, The Hummingbird Bakery Cook book, Planet Cake book and AWW Children's Birthday Cake books.

A unique and interesting fact about yourself?

Another one I will have to pass on as I am not that interesting and can't think of anything unique about my self :(

What do you love best about yourself?

That I manage to be a pretty good mum to my children, as well as being a wife and keep our lives running reasonably smoothly.

The best movie ever made?

I am a bit of a Tom Cruise fan, so that would be Top Gun!! I also love a good comedy, anything with Ben Stiller.

If it were Freaky Friday who would I change with?

I would swap with Julia Gillard, would love to know what it was like to be the first female prime minister!

Best thing about being a woman?

Being able to multi-task!! Being a mum. Being able to wear pretty clothes and shoes.

I am going to pass this award onto some fellow bloggers:

Enjoy the rest of your week.

Mrs KT :)

Sneek Peek: Lachlan's 7th Birthday Lego Themed Party.

Now that we are into August I have started to prepare things for Lachlan's party in a couple of weeks. I have a lot of other cake orders this month, so need to get organised early for the party.

I have been gathering the lollies for the candy buffet for a few weeks and today I started to wrap and cover the chocolate bars for the table. As it is a lego themed party I decided to use rectangle shaped bars covered in the theme colours with a lego brick picture on the front. This is what I started with.

The bars have 7 squares of chocolate in them, so the chocolate bars for the table will have 4 squares and the party box chocolate bars will have 3 square in them.

 { 4 square chocolate bar }

And here are the smaller ones for the take home party boxes.

One task can now be crossed off the "to do" list. There are many more to go, but there is still plenty of time!

Enjoy the coming week.
