Christmas Cupcake by me :)

I would like to wish all of my blogging friends a very merry and safe Christmas. Enjoy this time with your family and friends. Also, thankyou for making blogging such a joy. I did not ever think it would be so addictive and that I would meet such wonderful people.

Hope santa is good to you all :)

Baking with Emily.

Over the weekend my eldest niece, Emily, who is 8 came to stay with me to do some baking. We had a wonderful time, baking gingerbread cookies, cupcakes and chocolate cake.

The gingerbread was the first item we made. Emily chose the cookie shapes, the colour of the icing and also decorated them all herself.

The finished cookies looked and tasted sensational!

Next was the chocolate cake. The recipe we used was Deep Dark Chocolate Cake. An easy cake, that is moist and tastes great. We filled it with dark chocolate ganache and covered it with vanilla buttercream. Emily helped make all of the decorations for the top of the cake.

The presents and christmas tree looked very festive and the finished cake took pride of place on the table at our family gathering yesterday.

Next on the list was cupcakes. Again Emily chose the colours and made the decorations.

Emily became an expert with the piping bag almost immediately, she can be my assistant in the kitchen any day!!

I really enjoyed having Emily bake with me, and we will be doing it again soon.

What do you think of all of her creations?

Enjoy the lead up week to Christmas.

Vintage Rudolph Christmas Candy and Dessert Table

The Christmas season is here and my poor blog has been neglected, as it is just such a busy time, now that the holidays are here life will slow down a little, hopefully!!!

Last weekend I put together a Christmas candy and dessert table for a company Christmas party. The theme was vintage rudolph and the colours red and lime green. The printable collection is by The TomKat Studio. The little reindeer is just too cute!

This was the first time I had set up a table outdoors, and unfortunately the day brought very gusty winds. The table had to be relocated from a gorgeous position in the garden, to under a gazebo. Then just as everything was set up ready for photographing, a huge gust of wind came and blew the vase of Christmas flowers over, causing the white table cloth to be covered in water! Luckily, the food was spared, so a quick change of cloth and the table was presentable again! The wind also prevented me from using the "Merry Christmas" banner that I had created from the collection, which was a shame.

The table consisted of vanilla cupcakes, vanilla sugar cookies, chocolate dipped marshmallow pops, red and green choc beans from Sharnel Dollar Designs, red raspberry lollies, chocolate santa's and cherry flavoured candy canes.

The red and lime green were a great colour combination and provided a nice change to the traditional bottle green and red that is Christmas.

Our family Christmas dessert table is in the planning at the moment, the basis is a fabulous traditional printable collection by Anders Ruff, I look forward to sharing this with you in a couple of weeks.

Enjoy the Christmas season.

An Electric Guitar, Star Wars and Chocolate Shards.

All my cake orders are finished before the weekend this week, yay! The first one for the week was a fun cake to create. Rohan is turning 21 tomorrow and his dad requested a guitar cake. This is a similar picture of what he wanted re-created in a cake.

It was chocolate mudcake filled with dark chocolate and covered in black fondant.

The cake is a surprise for Rohan, so I am hoping he likes it!

Joe is celebrating his 60th birthday tomorrow, and his daughter requested a chocolate mudcake, but nothing too fancy with the decorating!

We decided on an all chocolate cake, dark chocolate mudcake filled and covered with dark chocolate ganache and white chocolate shards. The top was finished off with lindt balls and lindt chocolate drops and squiggles.

The final cake was for Bray who is turning 6. He requested a Star Wars theme.

I chose a simple design, R2D2 and Yoda with light sabres and some stars. It was also dark chocolate mudcake filled and covered with buttercream.

This weekend will be a relaxing one, hopefully the rain will stop soon and the sun can start shining.
