Superhero Birthday Cake

Today's post is going to be short and sweet! Only one cake this weekend, for Cian who was turning 6. He requested a Superhero cake, using some toy figurines that he had. The cake was dark chocolate mudcake with dark chocolate ganache filling and fondant covering and decorations.

Happy 6th Birthday Cian, I hope you had a great party today with your family and friends.

Enjoy your week, back to school tomorrow for the children.

Ella's Rainbow Cookies.

Since starting my blog last year I have had the pleasure of meeting some wonderful people online. Claire from Scissors Paper Rock is one of these people. You may remember that Claire designed and made the invitations and dessert labels for my children's birthday parties last year.

Ella is her gorgeous little girl and she is turning 3 tomorrow and is celebrating with a Rainbow themed birthday party. I was delighted when Claire asked me to bake some rainbow cookies for the celebration. I used the invitation as inspiration when designing the cookies.

The cookies are vanilla sugar cookies with fondant icing. The cookies had to be posted to Queensland and thankfully they arrived safely and undamaged! Here they are all packaged up ready to go.

Wishing Ella a very happy 3rd birthday, thankyou for allowing me to be a part of your rainbow celebrations :)

Enjoy your weekend.

Blogger Awards and My Latest Creations.

I was delighted to head over to Scissors Paper Rock a couple of days ago to catch up on what wonderful things Claire was posting about to see that she had passed on two blogger awards to me. Thankyou so much Claire :)

As part of these awards I need to share 7 facts about myself and then pass it onto some other fabulous bloggers.

1. I don't like vegemite! I know this is very un-Australian of me, but it is something that I have never been able to bring myself to eat.

2. My favourite colour is purple. My year 10 formal dress was purple, not very stylish when I look back now, but at the time I thought I looked stunning!!

3. I can cook, but can't sew or sing.

4. I am quite shy and reserved around new people, but amongst family and friends am quite forward and confident.

5. I am a brunette, but would love to be a blonde for a little while! My sister is a hairdresser but will not help me out with this!

6. My dad is Greek, but I do not speak the greek language and have never visited Greece. Would love to do both one day.

7. Today is our wedding anniversary, as of today we have been happily married for 13 years :)

So there you have it, a little bit more about me. Now to pass these awards onto some of my favourite bloggers:

* Sweet Style by Mrs A in the Cove
* A Room For Everyone
* A Dream House for Trish
* The Five Year Project

Please head over and visit these lovely blogs if you haven't already done so.

And to finish off here is my latest cake. This was for Andrew who is a Portsmouth FC fan (an English Soccer Team). The cake was cherry ripe mudcake with dark chocolate ganache and fondant covering.

And these are the latest cupcakes. Toy Story Themed vanilla cupcakes with vanilla buttercream swirls for Aiden who was turning 4. The fondant toppers were hand modelled by me.

Enjoy the rest of the week. My thoughts and prayers are with all of the flood effected people. Please donate if you can, a great cause is Baked Relief, that was started by Danielle from Digella Emporium.

Introducing Belle - my new camera bag :)

My next scheduled post was to be about the dessert and candy table I created for our family Christmas, but I couldn't resist slipping this one in!! As I previously mentioned I was very spoilt by my family at Christmas with a new DSLR camera. As it is such a fabulous piece of equipment I decided immediately that it needed to be carried around in something gorgeous but practical. I remembered that a while ago I had come across a company called Epiphanie by Mailie Wilson. This company is in the US and specialises in stylish camera handbags.

It took me about three days to finally decide on a style and colour, ordered it online and it was in my hot little hands 9 days later. Excellent service and super fast postage from the US to Australia especially over the holiday period!

There are five styles to choose from, I decided on the Belle in red!

Here she is:

Look at the cute camera tag !!

The lilac interior, nice :)

All packed ready to go and there is still room for another lense, lipstick and a few other bits and pieces.

So what do you think? I think it is very stylish and can't wait to take her out and show her off :) Oh and the other thing I can't wait for is the day when I have actually worked out how to use my new camera properly!

Enjoy your week.

Catching Up!

Happy New Year to you all. It is hard to believe that it is the 3rd day of 2011 already! The past few weeks have been busy, with the children on school holidays, Christmas and then New Year celebrations.

We had a wonderful Christmas, lots of presents, good food and time with our loved ones. I was spoilt by my family, with a new camera, which I am still working out how to use properly, but having lot's of fun in the process. My husband has named me the paparazzi now :)

In the lead up to Christmas I was busy baking cakes. The first one was a retirement cake for three teachers that were leaving my son's school. The bottom tier was cherry ripe mudcake with dark chocolate ganache filling and fondant covering. The top tier was white chocolate mudcake with white chocolate ganache filling and fondant covering. The apple and pencils were hand made from modelling paste. The words around the top "Loyalty, Obedience and Truth" are on the school emblem.

The next one was a 70th birthday cake for Noelene. This cake was butter cake with white chocolate ganache filling and fondant covering. The present bow was hand made from modelling paste.

My son's teacher asked me to make a cherry ripe mudcake in place of a christmas cake for her family this year. I went with a christmas theme of tree and presents.

Sara-Jayne and Justin were celebrating their engagement, here is the simple cake I created for them. Another cherry ripe mudcake, seems to be the flavour of the month!!

So that is a round up of the final cakes for 2010. I will be back over the next few days with the traditional Christmas dessert and candy table that I created for our family christmas.

Have a great day.

Mrs KT :)
