Cupcakes and A Christening Cake.

It has taken me a while to write this post as blogger has been playing up on me. It is still not co operating but hopefully my photo's will show up!

I made some cupcakes for a friend who was hosting an Australia's Biggest Morning Tea for her office. Vanilla and chocolate sponge cupcakes with vanilla buttercream swirls and fondant flowers.

A little baby who attends the same playgroup was being christened at the weekend and his mum asked me to decorate his cake. His great grandmother baked a delicious fruit cake for me to decorate.

Enjoy the rest of the week, we are having very cold and wet weather at the moment, so lot's of indoor time in front of the fire.

A Fairy and A Bright Red Hat!

This weekend I had two cakes to complete. The first one was for Charlotte who was turning 6. She was having a fairy party, so chose a mauve version of the fairy cake.

The cake was deep, dark chocolate cake filled with milk chocolate ganache and fondant covering. I handmade the fairy, butterflies and flowers from modelling paste.

Charlotte loved her cake and had a fabulous party!

My sister is celebrating her birthday this week and we had her birthday cake yesterday, as weekdays are crazy busy for us all with school and after school activities. She loves any type of cake, so left it up to me to choose the flavour and decoration.

The cake turned out to be a bright red hat! Not what I originally planned, but it just evolved as I went along, luckily it was for family :)

The cake was dark chocolate peppermint mudcake with dark chocolate peppermint ganache filling and fondant covering. The rose was hand made from modelling paste. Wow, it was a very rich cake, but delicious. It was the first time I have flavoured the ganache too, and I will certainly be doing it again.

This week my little blog will be turning 1! I can't believe one year has passed since I took the plunge into the blog world. I am so pleased I did, I really enjoy writing and showing my cakes on here. I have met some wonderful people through blogging. Thankyou to my followers x

Enjoy your week.

Sunday in the Kitchen!

After making jelly cakes last week for the Mother's Day afternoon tea, I realised how delicious they are and wondered why I don't make them more often! So with no cake baking to do this weekend I made some blue jelly cakes.

These cakes are very easy to make. I use a quick sponge cake recipe, but any sponge cake could be used, it is best made the day before so it doesn't fall apart when submerged in the jelly. My friend, Gail, has blogged an excellent step by step for jelly cakes here.

I also made some caramel mudcake cake pops. I was going to a linen party on Monday night, and wanted to take something yummy for supper. I usually make these and cover them with white chocolate, but I find the white chocolate is too sweet, so this time covered them in milk chocolate. They were delicious!

Two delicious sweets that are very easy to make, and really should be made more often :)

Enjoy your week.

Mother's Day Afternoon Tea.

Today we celebrated Mother's Day with all of our family. We held a very special afternoon tea at our home. I couldn't resist the opportunity to put together a dessert table!

The printable set I purchased from an Etsy store, totfulmemories, the colour theme was a pale pink, yellow, green and latte, with butterflies.

The table consisted of scones with jam and cream, vanilla and chocolate cupcakes, apple and cream tarts, tim tam cookie pops, chocolate bars wrapped in pretty paper, jelly cakes and strawberry, lemon and toffee bon bons.

This is the first time I have made cookie pops, I usually make cake pops, but after reading about them and seeing the recipe over at Mrs A in the Cove, I thought I would try them. They were a hit, really easy to make and tasted fabulous.

The gorgeous flowers consisted of pale pink mini roses and carnations and fitted the theme perfectly. I purchased these from my local florist, The Lollipop Junction, along with the bon bons.

The square ribbon cake stand is from Tracey Lau, the tablecloth is from Leanne - Sweet Style, the square cake stands are from Sharnel Dollar Designs.

The afternoon tea was enjoyed with Lady Grey tea and Espresso Coffee, whilst the children had creaming soda and lemonade.

I couldn't have asked for a better Mother's Day, surrounded by the ones I love.

Happy Mother's Day to all of my readers.
