Emily's Basketball Themed 9th Birthday.

My niece Emily turned 9 last week and chose a basketball theme for her cake. She was going out for dinner to celebrate her birthday so took the main cake to the restaurant.


The cake was deep, dark chocolate cake filled with milk chocolate ganache and fondant covering.


The imprint on the basketball was done by using a piping tip. Here is a progress photo of the markings.


Emily held a small party to celebrate with her cousins, there were basketball cupcakes and basketball shaped cookies on a stick. The cupcakes were chocolate with chocolate buttercream and fondant tops. The cookies were vanilla sugar cookies with fondant icing.

    What a great job!! I bet it took forever to make the "dimples" in the basketball with that piping tip. But I know it was a labor of love!! :-)
