I was hoping 2012 was going to go by a little slower.
We hosted Christmas lunch for 12 at our place this year, it was a wonderful celebration, with lot's of yummy food, laughs and enjoyment watching the children open presents and share the joy of Christmas with their cousins.

I made my usual easy sponge cake, coloured it a pretty pink, whipped up some fresh cream and chopped up some yummy strawberries.

Last year Madison chose the Enchanted Tree Cake for her 8th birthday. 


Madison consulted the Debbie Brown "Enchanted Fairytale Book" again and chose the Sleeping Dragon cake.




 The cake was deep, dark chocolate cake filled with dark chocolate ganache and fondant covering. She was going out for dinner to celebrate her birthday so took the main cake to the restaurant.


The cake was deep, dark chocolate cake filled with milk chocolate ganache and fondant covering.


The imprint on the basketball was done by using a piping tip. Here is a progress photo of the markings.

The first one was for Charlotte who was turning 6. She was having a fairy party, so chose a mauve version of the fairy cake.


The cake was deep, dark chocolate cake filled with milk chocolate ganache and fondant covering. I handmade the fairy, butterflies and flowers from modelling paste.



Charlotte loved her cake and had a fabulous party!

Pink and yellow seemed to be a good colour choice, prettied up with cute little sugar flowers and fluffy bunny tails.

Daina was turning 7 and requested a cake that was pink and had a fairy on top surrounded by flowers and butterflies.


The cake was deep, dark chocolate cake with milk chocolate ganache and fondant covering. The fairy was hand made from modelling paste.

It was party day on Saturday, Oliver turned 5 and we celebrated with family and friends. The theme for the party was "Emergency Services". We had a fabulous sign out the front so all the guests knew where to go for the party.

My lovely friend Leanne recommended Eye Candy Actions to me after she completed their Explore workshop last year. I have had my camera for a couple of months now and only ever shoot in auto mode. This week I have moved that dial to AV mode and the results have been fabulous.

The colour theme was purple, white and silver.


The cupcakes were deep, dark chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream swirls and tiny silver cachous, in purple cupcake cases.


The cupcakes were displayed on a clear tiered cupcake stand. His mum chose a jungle theme for his cake, so we went with a number 1 shaped cake. It was decorated with a monkey, a lion, a giraffe and an elephant, some trees and lots of jungle vines.

In the past I have made regular round cake pops, so used a heart shaped cutter to make these.

They asked me to make the cake, a yummy caramel mudcake filled with white chocolate ganache and covered with fondant. The colour theme was turquoise, purple and white with a hint of silver. Different shaped hearts were part of the theme.

It is hard to believe that it is the 3rd day of 2011 already! The past few weeks have been busy, with the children on school holidays, Christmas and then New Year celebrations.

We had a wonderful Christmas, lots of presents, good food and time with our loved ones. The gingerbread was the first item we made. Emily chose the cookie shapes, the colour of the icing and also decorated them all herself.

The first cake was for a 40th birthday. This cake was cherry ripe mudcake filled with dark chocolate ganache and fondant covering. The electric guitar was hand modeled from modeling paste. Both cakes were to celebrate milestone birthday's, a 21st and a 50th.
 
The first cake was for Matt who was celebrating his 21st birthday. He requested a VB Beer Bottle cake. It was dark chocolate mudcake with chocolate ganache and chocolate fondant covering. My nephew's 8th birthday falls the day after Lachlan's, and he chose a Star War's themed cake. He had a whole set of figurines and chose his favourites to be placed on the cake.

Of course it was a great chance to make my favourite mud cake, Cherry Ripe!




The recipe originates from the Australian Women's Weekly, I came across it on the Cakes and More Forum a few years ago. It is a lovely combination of dark chocolate, cherry and coconut.

I am in the process of finding a coconut flavoured cupcake that would be suitable to use for wedding cupcakes, so began the recipe trialling at the weekend. My friend, Gail, was kind enough to share some recipes with me. The first one was "Fluffy Coconut Cupcakes" from the Indulgence book.

She chose a Barbie Island Princess theme, so this determined the colour scheme for the baking.


I used her actual Barbie for the cake, so the only part of the cake that is not cake or fondant is the doll, crown and peacock fan.
